MAGIC RECTANGLES is pleased to present 11 – 1 (2010) by Amir Zaki, virtually at John Marshall High School.
The videos that make up Amir Zaki’s 11 – 1 (2010) source images from a selection of Peter Fischli and David Weiss’s Equilibre from 1984. Moving from the arrested analog of photographic images to animated, digitally cinematic moving pictures,11 – 1 renders precariously balanced compositions off-kilter and out-of-whack. These digital constructions unbalance and amuse as they spin, teeter, and quiver.
The sequence of ten videos will play, pause for a moment, and play a second time.
John Marshall High School is a comprehensive public high school that provides high-quality, creative and rigorous instruction for students in a diverse community.
LOCKER is located at John Marshall High School. MAGIC RECTANGLES is accessible via digital platforms.
A screening will be held Thursday, November 19, from 6:00 – 6:30pm. Following the screening, work may be viewed via a link at www.justlocker.com.
