LOCKER is pleased to present 6 Sculptures, an exhibition of new work by Ben Echeverria at John Marshall High School.
Here Echeverria has installed six sculptures of found concrete blocks and terracotta forms. Through careful positioning and arrangement of the objects into discrete sculptures, the color, weight, surface, texture, and obscuring of their prior and intended use results in a new and affective logic. The structure of the exhibition space, a familiar and customary bank of studentlockers, sets up these works in both isolation as individual sculptures, and in relation to each other as an organized set.
Ben Echeverria lives and works in Los Angeles. Recent solo exhibitions include Galerie Parisa Kind, Frankfurt, Germany (2019) and Parapet Real Humans, Saint Louis, MO (2017).
John Marshall High School is a comprehensive public high school that provides high-quality, creative and rigorous instruction for students in a diverse community.
LOCKER is located at John Marshall High School and is available by appointment. A reception for the artist will be held Thursday, October 17, 3:15 – 4:30pm.
